Where do you work?
I have flexibility in terms of work location. I may work virtually from home or go to clients. I am based in Palm Springs, California and service six counties within Southern California. Since I am not in a clinical context I am able to go workplaces, or can host at my office for confidentiality.
What about the national effort to minimize Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace/education settings?
Thank you for drawing attention to this. Through Neuro Strength Consulting, the approach is based on integration, innovation, and retention instead. One aspect of DEI that deserves more attention is how to celebrate the gifts of those around us.
What is your perspective on being friends with your clients?
Since I am not licensed through the Board of Behavioral Science or the Board of Psychology, I am able to be friends and interact with clients in social platforms. This being said, since my education background is psychology, I am ethically connected to American Psychological Association. I can maintain a social relationship while keeping everything discussed in sessions confidential.
Why don't you take insurance?
Since I am not licensed through the Board of Behavioral Science or the Board of Psychology insurance companies do not compensate for my services. Most insurance companies limit their provisions to services by providers licensed by the state. Non-clinical strategies and care are largely under-recognized and under utilized in the larger context of health insurance, and medical billing.
This being said, I am happy to speak with administrators and employers if they are open to reimbursing their staff for services. There are limited places to go for this type of support so engaging in a conversation about how to include this the services you reimburse would be highly beneficial. It will also increase morale, improve employee retention, and decrease workplace conflict.

Where do you work?
I have flexibility in terms of work location. I may work virtually from home or go to clients. I am based in Irvine California and service six counties within Southern California. Since I am not in a clinical context I am able to go to homes, workplaces, or (when there is a release of information) I may join them for important take-care-of-life appointments such as psychiatry, DMV, meetings with their employer, etc. Also, since I am not licensed I am not limited to California residents only.
What theories do you draw from in your work?
Although I am non-clinical I do have extensive psychology education and have chosen theories that give a great frame of reference when working with others. These include, Rogerian (Humanistic), Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (specific ally self-soothing, distraction, and radical acceptance).
How are you different than EAP programs?
I'm thrilled that you asked, Employee Assistance Programs are heavily focused on protecting the employer from losses and liabilities. As well-meaning as EAP coordinators are, it is not possible to separate their loyalty to the company hosting them. If the employer has an EAP created, chances are they at minimum acknowledge other life factors impact work performance and employee retention.
Can you help me improve my company's orientation trainings? The ones I'm working with are from 2005.
Yes, that would be project based compensation. I will review current onboarding/orientation trainings and provide feedback. Then we will discuss what would be best for your workplace.
How will I benefit from your services? What results can I expect?
You will have a workplace people are excited to be in. So many social nuances and office dynamics are unspoken because there currently is not a reliable space for the human conversations.
You will have improved communication between different disciplines, team cohesion, and a work plan that prioritizes both efficiency as well as individuality. There will also be decreased incident reports, less internal affairs investigations, and reduced risk of litigation because people are celebrated for the way their mind works.
When we release shame and take authority over different aspects of who we are, our work relationships improve.
